Samsung has rolled out “Samsung Food,” an innovative meal planning and recipe recommendation platform, across 104 countries. Samsung Food is a development of the Whisk app, an acquisition of Samsung’s Next division in 2019.
“The food we enjoy and the way we prepare it are central to our daily lives, and we all love to cook and eat together,” said Chanwoo Park, Samsung’s Executive Vice President.
Samsung Food offers impressive features, including recipe exploration, meal scheduling, shopping list generation, and the option to follow renowned recipe creators. Users can access over 160,000 recipes in eight languages, including English, Spanish, Korean, German, French, and Italian. The app also partners with e-commerce platforms in selective regions, easing access to necessary ingredients.
Samsung Food’s unique “Food AI” allows users to personalize recipes to fit dietary preferences, such as making them vegan or vegetarian. Additionally, users can fine-tune nutritional content by substituting ingredients, and even craft fusion dishes of diverse culinary traditions.
The app’s accessibility extends to Bespoke appliances like refrigerators, microwaves, and ovens. This integration allows users to perform tasks like setting timers, tweaking oven settings, and preheating, all via the app. It also aligns perfectly with Samsung’s brand identity of delivering cutting-edge, internet-connected appliances.
Samsung harbors ambitious plans for the platform’s future evolution. By year-end, the company plans to merge Samsung Food with Samsung Health, enhancing nutrition tracking and dietary management features. Moreover, it plans to introduce “Vision AI” by 2024, enabling the app to recognize food items through the phone’s camera, followed by nutritional insights.
