PreventScripts has raised $1.5 million in response to the surging rates of metabolic diseases in middle America. Keyhorse Capital and iSelect Fund led the funding round, emphasizing the urgency of addressing this pressing public health challenge.
With a recent $1.5 million funding infusion, PreventScripts plans to expand into key markets such as:
- Tennessee
- Kentucky
- Ohio
- Illinois
- Mississippi
- Alabama
- Georgia, where metabolic diseases have become increasingly prevalent.
PreventScripts recognizes that 1 in 3 Americans suffers from Metabolic syndrome, a precursor to debilitating and preventable conditions. These conditions include type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, chronic kidney disease, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Additionally, this syndrome has strong links to specific types of cancer. The consequences of these conditions are not only detrimental to individuals but also pose a significant financial burden on the healthcare system. In fact, the costs associated with treating chronic diseases like these are major contributors to the $4.1 trillion annual healthcare expenditure in the United States, as reported by the CDC.
In response to this urgent health crisis, PreventScripts aims to act as a preventive health platform, reconnecting healthcare providers with their calling and motivating patients to transition from inactivity to a healthier lifestyle. Through its holistic approach, PreventScripts not only addresses immediate health concerns but also contributes to reducing the economic burden caused by these preventable conditions in the long run.
PreventScripts CEO Brandi Harless said in a statement:
“It’s undeniable that we’re facing a healthcare tsunami in the form of metabolic diseases and diabetes. At the same time, primary care providers are burned out and patients aren’t focused on prevention. PreventScripts is the preventive health platform that reconnects providers to their calling and motivates patients to go from uninspired to active and healthy. Through our science-backed digital tool that assesses and monitors at-risk patients, we encourage behavioral changes while offering reimbursable tools providers want and patients need.”
PreventScripts employs a data-driven approach that creates a feedback loop between providers and patients. This addresses primary care provider burnout and emphasizes prevention. With recent funding, they plan to expand into key markets, notably those dealing with metabolic diseases like diabetes and hypertension, with the goal of partnering with 1,000 providers by 2025. Moreover, their role in preventative healthcare becomes increasingly significant as metabolic diseases surge nationwide.
