The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has expanded its presence in South America through a $100 million loan agreement to support a clean water development program in Argentina’s Córdoba province.
Since its establishment in 1975, SFD has funded over 750 development projects in over 90 countries, with its total investment exceeding US$20 billion.
The CEO of SFD, H.E Sultan Al-Marshad, emphasized,
“Safe water, sanitation, and hygiene are essential for health and well-being. We are proud to support projects that improve access to potable water in developing countries and positively impact the lives of many.”
The Interprovincial Aqueduct Santa Fe – Córdoba Project will use the loan from the Saudi Fund for Development specifically for Phase 1, Block B-C, in Argentina. The initial phase of this project will provide safe water to over 410,000 people from Coronda to San Francisco. Furthermore, it will stimulate employment opportunities in the region, thereby contributing to economic growth.
Notably, this project aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing) and SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), emphasizing the importance of clean water for public health and well-being.
