Myth AI, a Turkish startup, is making waves in the fashion industry by introducing AI-generated textile patterns. This innovative approach aims to reduce waste and improve sustainability by streamlining the design process. They recently raised $1.3 Million in seed funding.
The seed round had prominent investors like Birkan Kül of Getir.com, Emre Kozlu of Philip Morris International, and Faik Ulutas, a founder of a Turkish textiles firm.
The fashion industry notoriously affects the environment, generating about 92 million tonnes of textile waste yearly. This waste accounts for 8% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions. CEO Özgecan Üstgül initially established the company as an internal solution for her fashion line. It has since grown into a startup focused on tackling fashion waste.
The company uses generative AI to create AI-generated patterns to help create a better sustainable design and production process. Traditionally, fabric suppliers provide designs, but this process often leads to waste when a design is created or modified.
Additionally, it lowers the risk of unsellable inventory and speeds up the process from days to seconds. Several brands, such as Ratti, Telater, and Sun Textile in Italy, Spain, and Turkey, already use myth, and now they plan to expand to the UK. The technology will allow brands to create patterns and reduce fabric supplier dependency quickly.
