DistroKid just released its Android App

DistroKid, an indie music distributor, just released its Android app, following the launch of its iOS version. The Android app offers similar features to the iOS one, allowing artists to upload tracks, receive payment alerts, check stats from platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, and edit song details directly from their phones. DistroKid, started by Philip “Pud” Kaplan, raised its last round in 2021 at a $1.3 billion valuation.

Since 2013, DistroKid has become a major player, distributing a significant portion of new global music. They focus on offering musicians, managers, and labels user-friendly and cost-effective online tools. Over 2 million artists, from beginners to big names, trust DistroKid for services like distribution, monetization, metadata editing, storage, and promotion. With an efficient team and automated systems, they’ve handled over 25 million songs while maintaining speedy and friendly customer support for artists of all levels.

The company has been active with acquisitions and launches this year. Last year, they launched DistroVid for music video uploads on platforms like Apple Music and Vevo.  In April, they introduced “Mixea,” a $99-per-year mastering tool for artists. In September, DistroKid acquired Bandzoogle, a platform enabling musicians to build websites and sell directly to fans. In October, DistroKid allowed artists to upload music to TikTok Music and CapCut. These additions complement DistroKid’s core service of unlimited music distribution and over 20 free tools to support artists.
