TeachMe.To Raises $2 Million to Assist Beginning Athletes with Instruction from Local Coaches

TeachMe.To, a beginner’s lesson hub, has raised $2 million in seed capital, led by 1984 Ventures. The funding will accelerate growth and introduce new features to enhance an end-to-end lesson experience. The syndicate of angel investors includes OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Thumbtack VP Ben Lauzier, Yelp CPO Vivek Patel, and Rover President Brent Turner.

TeachMe.To is a platform that simplifies learning to play, making it accessible to all learners and monetizing athletes’ skills. It allows students to book local lessons with affordable, friendly coaches in over 100.S. cities. Moreover, it offers pickleball, golf, tennis, and surfing instructions.

The platform enables vetted coaches to expand their client portfolio. TeachMe.To CEO Nick O’Brien is proud of the company’s success, serving nearly every U.S. city with hundreds of daily lessons. The company plans to continue establishing itself as the best place to book sports lessons and expand its skill offerings.

Meeting the Post-Pandemic Demand

The platform’s growth aligns with the evolving post-pandemic landscape, where people are eager to venture out, acquire new skills, and embark on new experiences. Ramy Adeeb, Founder and General Partner at 1984 Ventures, underscored TeachMe.To’s role as the ideal starting point for individuals looking to broaden their horizons. He commended the platform for uncovering market insights and rapidly scaling its services to cover five sports and 100 cities.

Exceptional Early Results

TeachMe scaled to 5 sports and 100 cities with counterintuitive market insights. The foundation has booked hundreds of lectures during early beta testing in over 100 U.S. cities, with an average instructor rating of 4.9. The team is excited to work with TeachMe as they establish themselves as the premier destination for in-person lessons.
