Roblox Launches on Meta Quest VR Headsets
Roblox is now available on Meta Quest VR headsets, marking a significant step in the metaverse’s expansion. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the much-awaited announcement during the Connect event. This move further solidifies Roblox’s presence in the burgeoning metaverse space. Meta had previously divulged that Roblox would be accessible on Quest 2 and Quest Pro, and it will also be compatible with the anticipated Quest 3, priced at $500.
Mark Zuckerberg expressed his enthusiasm, stating,
“Roblox is launching today. After taking a long time to optimize it for VR, it’s going to be a big deal.”
The news of Roblox’s integration into Meta Quest VR headsets did not come as a surprise. Meta had announced its plans in July, initially rolling out an open beta accessible through App Lab. Roblox CEO Dave Baszucki’s comments in 2021 hinted at this collaboration, emphasizing the compatibility of Roblox with Quest devices.
While Roblox is already compatible with various VR headsets, including Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, users typically need to connect their PCs to enjoy the experience. However, the Quest version of Roblox promises greater accessibility, with direct downloads available from the Meta Quest Store. This feature aims to simplify the Roblox VR experience for users by providing easy access and eliminating the need for complex setups.
Roblox enthusiasts can now explore the metaverse in VR via the open beta on Quest 2 and Quest Pro devices. The forthcoming Quest 3 will also be compatible, ensuring a wider audience can delve into the immersive world of Roblox.
In a new development, Roblox is gearing up to launch “Roblox Connect,” an innovative animated video calling feature that combines Zoom and Memoji elements, further enhancing users’ interactive experience.
