Expanso Raises $7.5M for Innovative Big Data Processing
Expanso, a Seattle-based startup, has recently raised $7.5 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by General Catalyst and Hetz Venture, together with Array Ventures. Veterans of Google, AWS, and Microsoft created Expanso.
David Aronchick, CEO of Expanso shed light on the reason for the product, “Actually making use of enterprise data.”
The issue exists with distributed big data processing as it can be very complex and challenging. Moving data from one note to a centralized data lake can be time-consuming and costly for companies. In addition, other newer frameworks require that code be rewritten for support before even the data can be accessed. Lastly, it is a massive security issue because of leaks of personally identifiable information because it contains so much information.
Aronchick said, “Infrastructure built to meet data where it is, even if distributed worldwide, is long overdue. What Expanso is building with Bacalhau is intended to revolutionize the way big data is processed and global compute jobs are executed while unlocking an entirely new class of applications.”
